Motivation Station!

Happy Monday, crew! Hope you all had an amazing weekend, mine was such a blast! I got to do so many fun things! See some besties, watch a track meet, and attend a holiday party were all on my Saturday agenda, and THEN....I surprised my hubby with tickets to the Packers Vikings game Sunday!! Eeeh it was so much fun (and so much driving) but still so much fun! :) So we had a solid 36-hour trip around the entire Midwest (well, practically) and are back in West Des Moines.

I was talking about short-term goals with one of my clients this morning and started thinking about the holidays and how they affect peoples' physical activity levels. Some find numerous holiday parties where you're required to look divine and the chaos of shopping good reasons to throw themselves into their workouts! Others look at the impending mountains of Christmas cookies as a derailer, and start early on the derailing by slacking off on workouts. Alas, despite which category you may fall in, no judgment passed! Instead, I've come up with some motivators for you! Each person is different and so is their source of motivation, but I tried to hit a wide range of subjects to include most everyone ;) They are a little silly, but they actually do work (like how can I NOT run outside? Its 60 degrees out in December!). Hopefully you can get something out of my list too :)

Reasons to Stay on the Workout Track (or treadmill, elliptical, whatever it may be for you ;) ):

1. The holidays can get stressful and exercise is a stress reliever!
2. You and I both know grammy won't take no for an answer on licking off the frosting spoon post-cookie decorating
3. Holiday work party=the one chance you get to take off the boring black slacks and wow everyone with your stunner calves in a little black number
4.The weather has been so warm, you can't use the "its too cold/icy/windy" excuse ;)
5.New Year's resolutions put too much pressure on one starting day; avoid the psyche and start early!
6. Santa counts skipped workouts as strikes against you. Translation? Naughty list.
7. So the three workout tops and two new pairs of running shoes you put on your list seem legitimate.
8. Because eggnog isn't getting any lower in calories. Nor are candy cane martinis ;)
9. You can't get your car in the driveway without shoveling it (if we ever get snow, that is =)
10. ABC Family provides you with epic Christmas movies to watch while you treadmill/elliptical/bike! Goodbye, indoor-cardio boredom
11. December is that time of year where everyone gets a cold! Got the sniffles? You'll feel better after exercising (the science backs it up)! Just grab a few Kleenex to bring along ;)

Do you have any personal motivators to share? I'd love to hear them! Well that's all for now, I have a few pictures to share but forgot to get them off Riley's phone, so I'll share next time! :) Hope you have a great rest of your Monday! I'll be back soon with a yummy recipe to share :)
